The state of the retina in one hundred cases of granular kidney by Henry Eales Download PDF EPUB FB2
This has been done by Mr. EALES, of Birmingham, who in an interesting communication to the current number of the Birmingham Medical Review, has described an investigation of the state of the retina in one hundred cases of granular kidney, the primary object being to determine the percentage of cases in which retinal changes are present.
granular kidney a kidney in which fairly uniform, diffusely and evenly situated foci of scarring of the interstitial tissue of the cortex (and sometimes scarring of glomeruli), and the associated slight degree of bulging of groups of dilated tubules, leads to the development of a minutely bosselated surface; such kidneys are seen in arteriolar.

I have col- lected all the cases in which granular kidneys were found at the post-mortems made at Guy's Hospital during the years, and the first half of sufficient to make up one hundred cases in all.
The cases have been selected without any choice or favour, in the order in which they occur in the Pathological by: one of which, the size of a grape, was cystic with a thick membrane which upon incision evacuated yellow serum.5 This description seems to warrant the diagnosis of a granular contracted kidney.
It is remarkable that Wepfer intuitively grasped the pathophysiological problem presented by the renal abnormality, and he unequivocally states. THE BRITISH MEDICAL _OURPVAL. of albumen (one-third). Early inapoptosis was considered the only standard programmed cell death form [1, 2], whereas necrosis was mostly considered an ‘accidental’ cell death that occurred in response to physical and chemical insults.
Kidneys lie between the dorsal body wall and the parietal peritoneum. Kidneys are retroperitoneal. They extend from T12 to L3 (superior lumbar cavity), on either side of the vertebral column. The right kidney is slightly inferior to the left kidney.

The papillae are bundles of collecting ducts that transport urine made by nephrons to the calyces of the kidney for excretion. The renal columns also serve to divide the kidney into 6–8 lobes and provide a supportive framework for vessels that enter and exit the cortex. The pyramids and renal columns taken together constitute the kidney lobes.
EMA and carbonic anhydrase IX immunoreactivity was seen in one of the two cases. Multiple chromosomal losses involving chromosomes 1, 2, 17 and likely chromosome 7 were revealed by fluorescence in. In this study, we evaluated the possible relationship between the changes in retinal vessel density (VD) by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and the vascular alterations involving renal, cardiovascular and central nervous systems in patients affected by Fabry disease (FD).
In 50 FD patients, the retinal superficial capillary plexus (SCP) and deep capillary plexus (DCP) in. of the retina in the neighbourhood of the optic nerve-entrance and macula lutea: parts of the retina most used in- direct vision. The fatty degeneration is said to be preceded, and in some cases is certainly accompanied, by-congestion and haemorrhage from ruptuse of the arterioles of the retina.

The renal pelvis contains a hilium —the concave site in which the renal artery and vein and nerves enter the kidney and the ureter leaves the kidney.
One hundred and nine () cases were WNND, including 18 deaths, while the rest 52 were cases with mild symptoms (mainly fever). The greater incidence levels were recorded in Attica region and in North Greece. One of the WNND cases was a German national.
Background and Objectives: The goal was to evaluate the association of dynamic retinal vessel analysis (DVA) with echocardiographic parameters assessing systolic and diastolic function of the left ventricle in hypertension (HT) patients with preserved left ventricle ejection fraction.
Materials and Methods: This observational retrospective study recruited 36 patients with HT and 28 healthy. One hundred two consecutive adult patients referred to the Nephrology service (mostly from the Intensive Care Units) for evaluation of acute renal failure, comprised the subjects of this study.
The major reason for consultation was a rapidly increasing blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (BUN>30 mg/dL and creatinine> mg/dL) with or.
The one outstanding and consistently reliable change observed in the eyegrounds was the degree of general and localized spastic constriction of the retinal arterioles. ANATOMY OF THE RETINAL ARTERIOLES Knowledge of the structure of the walls of the retinal arterioles helps one to understand better the local manifestations of angiospasm.

Using reference management software. taking off of the capsule and tearing the kidney tissue is goingto,do any good. I appreciatethat the removal of ten¬ sion can give the kidney a chance to regain its function, but this could only be of service in acute cases; beside, the operationis surelyan extremelydangerousone, and I,for one, would hesitate to use it.
George F. Suker. The average person with normal kidney function will produce about 2 quarts of wastes, in the form of urine in a day. Overview- There are many different types of kidney diseases and each one affects the body a little differently.
However, most kidney diseases attack the nephrons of the kidney. Most people have eye problems at one time or another. Some are minor and will go away on their own, or are easy to treat at home. Others need a specialist’s care.
